Licensed for 327 beds and in the beginning phase of a new expansion project, St. Mary Medical Center is the most comprehensive medical center in Bucks County. With a staff of nearly 500 physicians and more than 2,000 employees committed to providing excellence in patient care, St. Mary offers up-to-date technology, including a comprehensive cardiovascular program, the only state-accredited Trauma Center in Bucks County, a Primary Stroke Care Center, specialized diagnostic capabilities, obstetrics, exceptional surgical services, including orthopedic joint replacement and rehab, and the St. Mary Regional Cancer Center, which is part of the Fox Chase Cancer Network.

In 2003, we cared for more than 19,000 inpatients and more than 40,000 emergency patients. Many clinical departments - including the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs, MRI, Surgery and Radiology - surpassed all previous patient volume marks, indicative of the high level of confidence that patients have in the care and service provided by our physicians, colleagues, and volunteers.

Several departments were re-accredited or certified including our Regional Trauma Center, Sleep/Wake Disorders Center, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Laboratory (with distinction), and CME program. The St. Mary Primary Stroke Center received national recognition from the American Stroke Association for implementing the Stroke Beta Pilot Program. In 2003, St. Mary received the prestigious NOVA Award from the American Hospital Association in recognition of our leadership role in partnerships with community agencies and organizations to provide services to poor and immigrant families through our Community Ministries in Bensalem. St. Mary Medical Center is committed to supporting healthy communities, and continually endeavors to be creative in approaches to meet the community's healthcare needs through such programs as our Wellness and Sports Care Center, Women's Center, Parenting Resource Center, and Holistic Health Program.
