William
S. Knapp, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.C. P., F.S.C.A.I., is Section
Chief of Cardiology at Saint Joseph's Hospital, board certified
in interventional cardiology. A graduate of the University of
Minnesota, Dr. Knapp completed his residency and fellowship programs
at Emory University in Atlanta. He has been affiliated
with Saint Joseph's since 1980, where he has served on numerous
boards and associations. Dr. Knapp is a Diplomate, American Board of
Medical Specialties, Interventional Cardiology, and a Fellow of the
American College of Cardiology and the Society of Coronary Angiography
and Interventions. Dr. Knapp is the author of several articles that
have appeared in national medical journals. He also is the author of
many research papers and a frequent presenter to professional medical
group including Circulation, American Journal of Cardiology,
and Leading Edge, 2004.
Basil
Margolis, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Basil
Margolis, M.D., F.A.C.C. is a cardiologist at Saint Joseph's
Hospital and Medical Director of the Center for Preventive Cardiology
at Saint Joseph's. Dr. Margolis is a graduate of Cambridge
University in England and completed his residency at Groote Schuur
Hospital in South Africa and his fellowship at Harvard University. He
is a specialist in preventive cardiologyhas been affiliated with Saint
Joseph's since 1980. Dr. Margolis is a member of several medical
societies and is the recipient of numerous awards and achievements
in his field. He also is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology
and a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Atlanta
Cardiology Forum, among others. Dr. Margolis writes and presents
frequently on the issues of preventative cardiology for a number of
publications including Clinical Cardiology, American Journal of
Cardiology. He is on the board of directors, Georgia Association
of Cardiopulmonary Health, Prevention and Sports as well as a member
of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Committee, Georgia Chapter of the American
Heart Association.
Douglas
A. Murphy, M.D.
Douglas
A. Murphy, M.D., is Section Chief of cardiothoracic surgery
at Saint Joseph's Hospital, board certified by the American Board
of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. A
graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Murphy completed his
residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and his fellowship at Emory
University. He has been affiliated with Saint Joseph's since
1988. Dr. Murphy is one of the leading cardiothoracic surgeons in the
country and is the only surgeon in Georgia performing coronary bypass
and valve replacement surgery using the da Vinci Robotic
Surgical System. The da Vinci systems offer patients
invasive procedures resulting in improved recovery times, and reduced
risks and complications. Dr. Murphy is a member of a number of
medical societies and is the recipient of numerous awards and achievements
in his field. He is one of the nation's leading cardiothoracic
surgeons using minimally-invasive surgical techniques, including the da Vinci Robotic
Surgical System, for open heart surgery including mitral valve and
coronary bypass procedures. Dr. Murphy is the author of many
clinical articles for publications including the Journal of Thoracic
Cardiovascular Surgery, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Heart Transplantation,
and the American Journal of Cardiovascular Pathology. He has
participated in many cardiothoracic research studies and clinical trials
including those using the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System,
catheters, grafts and stents.
